News:

-From now on, the Salt Lake group will be meeting at Elena's house on Tuesdays. Her address is 426 7th Ave.

Class:

-We must not be victims of life. One of the most important teachings of Lost Coin is that we have take responsibility for ourselves, our circumstances, and our lives. Our lives are no one else's fault.

-Be ourselves. Do what pleases us. Be aware when we are acting to please others. Living a life of please others is usually based in fear. Let's not be afraid of living the life WE want to lead.

-At the same time, be sensitive to others. Trying to make others do what we want them to do, rather than what they want to do, doesn't work for very long. When we stop telling people what to do, they'll start asking us.

-Practice starts where concepts end.

-The history of Zen is closely tied to war in Japan, specifically the Samurai class.

-The samurais came to terms with death in a way that is rare in other people. They were concerned more with beauty and honor than necessarily living a long time.

-Being a warrior to us means living without fear; having the courage to move beyond he fears that limit our lives.

-Concerning the student/teacher relationship with Daniel: We have to be active in creating the relationship with D that we want. D reassured the students in Salt Lake that his move to San Francisco will not negatively effect his relationships with his students, however, we as students, do have to play an active role in the relationship. If we want his attention, ask for it.

-D has had a lot of teachers (Zen, Fourth Way, music, martial arts), and has seen that the worst trait that a teacher can have is being power hungry.

-D does not want power, he wants to be a good teacher.
